Sample inspection documents for CNC and prototype RFQs
Use these examples to decide which evidence package your project needs before production: COC, material certificate, dimensional report, CMM or FAI record, finish approval, packing proof, and export handoff.
Use redacted templates
Customer names, supplier names, drawing numbers, and proprietary dimensions should be redacted unless the buyer explicitly authorizes public use.
Agree before production
Tell DFocus which documents are required: rough quote, production-ready quote, first article approval, final inspection report, or export paperwork.

The right package depends on tolerance risk, material traceability, cosmetic requirements, and whether your receiving team needs first article approval.
Certificate of Conformance
Useful when the receiving team needs a shipment-level declaration that the parts were produced against the agreed PO, drawing revision, material, and finish scope.
Confirm: drawing revision, PO number, part number, shipment lot.
Material certificate
Useful when alloy, resin, hardness, or traceability matters. Availability depends on stock source and requested grade.
Confirm: grade, standard, heat/lot traceability, supplier paperwork.
Dimensional report
Useful for 2D drawing dimensions, critical fits, hole patterns, datum checks, and receiving inspection records.
Confirm: dimensions to measure, sample size, units, acceptance criteria.
CMM report
Best for GD&T, datum-sensitive geometry, complex profiles, and fit-critical metal or plastic machined parts.
Confirm: datums, GD&T callouts, report format, measured points.
FAI report
Useful before low-volume launch, drawing revision release, or repeat production after a process change.
Confirm: first article quantity, drawing ballooning, approval workflow.
Finish and packing proof
Useful for anodizing color, texture, cosmetic surfaces, masking, protective packaging, labels, and carrier handoff.
Confirm: lighting condition, sample coupon, packing standard, photo timing.

Do documents change the quote?
