Certification and compliance scope for prototype RFQs

This page explains what DFocus can state, what must be verified by certificate evidence, and what remains an RFQ-specific documentation request for CNC machining, prototype manufacturing, and low-volume engineering builds.

No blanket certification claim

DFocus does not ask buyers to rely on a generic badge. Certificate status must be tied to a named legal entity, certificate number, issuing body, validity date, and scope before it is used as a purchasing requirement.

RFQ scope first

Inspection reports, material certificates, FAI-style layouts, packing photos, and export handoff records are prepared only when agreed during RFQ and confirmed on the quote.

Regulated projects need boundaries

Automotive, aerospace, medical, and safety-related prototypes require written review of documentation needs, end-use limits, traceability expectations, and any customer-owned approval workflow.

Decision table

How to read compliance language on an RFQ

Use this table before sending a regulated or certificate-sensitive project. It separates operational capability from formal certification status.

Claim type
What we can state
What this does not mean
RFQ evidence
Inspection documentation
Dimensional report, CMM report, FAI-style layout, process photos, packing photos, and material certificate can be quoted when requested.
It does not mean every order includes every document or that a third-party audit is included by default.
Quote line item, inspection plan, drawing balloons, sampling level, and report template.
Certified management system
A certificate can be referenced only after the certified entity, certificate number, issuing body, validity, and scope are available.
It does not mean every partner, process, material, or product category is covered by that certificate.
Certificate PDF, scope page, expiry date, issuing body, and quote notes tying the scope to the project.
Automotive prototype package
Dimensional records, material traceability, process photos, packing evidence, and customer-requested submission inputs can be prepared for suitable projects.
It does not mean final-production approval, vehicle validation, or customer supplier qualification.
Customer checklist, drawing revision, control characteristics, inspection method, and approval owner.
Medical or safety-related prototype
Mechanical prototype inspection and material traceability can be discussed when the end-use, risk level, and documentation scope are written in the RFQ.
It does not mean clinical suitability, sterile processing approval, regulated material approval, or finished device release.
End-use statement, material requirement, cleaning/packing notes, inspection plan, and customer acceptance criteria.

Certificate record template

What must be shown before a certificate is used in buyer-facing proof

If a buyer requires a formal certificate, the RFQ record should capture the fields below before the claim is repeated in quote notes, packing documents, or project emails.

Certified entity

The exact legal company or facility name covered by the certificate.

Certificate number

The unique certificate identifier used for verification.

Issuing body

The accredited organization or customer source that issued the document.

Valid until

The expiration date or audit period, including any renewal dependency.

Scope

The processes, locations, and product categories covered by the certificate.

What this means

The practical project implication, written in plain language for the buyer.

What this does not mean

Limits, exclusions, and buyer-owned approvals that still apply even when a certificate exists.

Need a certificate-sensitive quote?

Send the CAD, drawing revision, material requirement, end-use note, destination country, and required evidence list. The engineer review will confirm whether the requested documents are feasible before quote approval.
